Determination of Naringenin and Hesperidin in Fruit Juice - LUMEX Capillary Electrophoresis

Orange juice production is the main driving force and development direction of China's citrus industry. A large number of epidemiological studies and animal experiments have shown that citrus fruits have antioxidant, anticancer, preventive, anti-allergic and antibacterial effects. This is mainly because citrus fruits contain flavonoids (80%), mainly flavonoids, of which Hesperidin and Naringin are the most important flavonoids in citrus fruits. Hesperidin has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and analgesic, immunomodulatory and anti-tumour effects. Naringin has strong biological properties such as hypolipidemic, sedative, antioxidant, antitumour, antifungal and anti-atherosclerotic. Detecting and controlling the contents of the two flavonoid active ingredients in orange juice beverages is of positive significance for improving the value of orange juice beverages, standardising consumption and promoting industrial development. The contents of hesperidin and naringenin can be determined by LUMEX capillary electrophoresis, an assay that involves separating different components of the beverage by capillary electrophoresis and absorbing these components at 220 nm.
